Life is eventful

I have been busy at work and at play.  I have been getting into photography lately and am loving it.  Maybe that will be a career choice for me one day…

Here are a couple of pics from Shelby’s bridals yesterday.

The foundation is up on our house and I’ve been doing a little stress eating.  We went out on Friday night for my friend Hayden’s birthday celebration.  It was on a party bus that took you to different clubs and bars downtown.  You could bring your own alcohol and drink and ride on the bus.  It was awesome.  I could have just stayed on the bus the whole time! 

I am so wanting to start my own business and have been getting into photography so maybe something will come of that.  This week shouldn’t be too bad, we only have one surgery on Thursday.  I have decided that I want to do more with my life than just have jobs to pay the bills.  I want a career and I want to enjoy it.

Friday’s Finds Part Deux

 

 

Today’s Friday’s Find is Trader Joe’s Very Mini Vanilla Meringues.  These one calorie per meringue are delicious!

The nice thing about them is that they are very light.  Meringues are basically air puffed cookies and are known for their lightness.  The serving size is100 meringues for 100 calories. Makes since right?  But these cookies are so sweet that a small number will certainly satisfy your sweet tooth. The husband even thinks they are very sweet and he has the biggest sweeth tooth of all! So if they can satisfy him, then I suggest you try them on your sweet tooth too!

This will be a new post that I will write every Friday.   I will be reviewing new products that I have tried and recommend for you to try.

This weeks find:

Trader Joe’s 5 Layer Fiesta Dip!!

The layers include:

• black bean dip
• salsa
• sour cream
• cheddar cheese
• guacamole

The NI are: (for one serving/ 2 tablespoons) 50 calories, 3.5 g of fat and zero grams of fiber   *WW Points: 1 per serving

It is absolutely delicious!  The serving size is two tablespoons, but I could probably eat the whole container.  You can buy the smaller container (like mine) for $3.99 or a larger container for $5.99.  I usually make my own seven layer dip, but I don’t have to do any of the work when I buy this

I served mine with low fat blue tortilla chips and a diet root beer

Busy busy week!

Trying to stay busy

So the husband is gone for the weekend on a guy’s bachelor’s weekend.  I miss him terribly so I am trying to stay busy. 

Today I went for a walk/power walk at the lake.  It is a gorgeous day out!  I walked 30 minutes and 17 seconds around the lake and earned two APs.  Boy, was it hilly! I had no problem going downhill in the beginning, but going back uphill was tough.  I came home and did 15 minutes of Yoga High Noon on Exercise on Demand.  It gave me a good stretch and now I’m off to shower.

I ate a tablespoon of pb and a cup of soy milk before the walk and it is just now starting to wear off.  I am going to shower and see where the day leads me.  I should probably start cleaning out stuff before the move this summer!

“I don’t brag I mostly boast”

I was on my way home from Trader Joe’s today and I was thinking about how good my life is.  I have a wonderful husband, a job, we are building a house, I have good friends and I have some money in savings. 

I am completely thankful for these things and happy I am taking care of myself so that I can enjoy them. 

Today I am cleaning around the apartment and getting ready for a relaxing weekend.  The husband will be off with the guys for a Bachelor’s weekend for our neighbor/the husband’s coworker and friend.  I am sticking around here and hopefully doing something tomorrow night for the bachelorette.

So I am taking it easy and doing some yoga this weekend and focusing on catching up around here.

The oatmeal thread

So I have a new love in my life…yep, it’s oatmeal.

Oatmeal is so versatile.  It’s like the chili of breakfast food.  I can throw lots of yummy stuff in the pot and it tastes amazing!

Here is a list of the yummy things you can add to make a low point (and filling!) breakfast:

1/2 banana

granola

canned pumpkin

semi-sweet chocolate chips

pb chips

mini marshmallows

splenda

chocolate syrup, maple syrup, regular syrup

pudding

graham crackers

marshmallow fluff

pb (and lots of it!)

vanilla soy milk

raisins and brown sugar

muffin crumbles

berries

yogurt

cottage cheese

fruit

chocolate bar pieces

These are the items I have experimented with lately.  I like to keep my oatmeal under 3 points.  Right now I have been eating a lot of semi-sweet chocolate chips and a teaspoon of pb in my oatmeal.

Mangolicious Blueberry Waffles

This recipe was delicious!  We always eat breakfast at the apartment together on Saturday mornings.  Whether it’s making it or bringing food back to the apartment, it’s just nice to eat together.

Here is what you need:

1 cup of TJ’s Mangolicious Frozen Fruit. (It’s a mix of blueberries, raspberries and mangos mmmmmm!)

2 TJ’s blueberry waffles

1 tablespoon frozen Cool Whip Free

Heat 1 cup of mangolicious mix in the microwave for about 1 min, 15 seconds

toast waffles to your liking

add a tablespoon of Cool Whip Free to your plate at the end

I made two servings with the mangolicious for the husband and I.  So that is 1/2 cup per two waffles.

WW points: 5 (I ate a couple extra pieces of the husbands mango too!)
