The oatmeal thread

So I have a new love in my life…yep, it’s oatmeal.

Oatmeal is so versatile.  It’s like the chili of breakfast food.  I can throw lots of yummy stuff in the pot and it tastes amazing!

Here is a list of the yummy things you can add to make a low point (and filling!) breakfast:

1/2 banana


canned pumpkin

semi-sweet chocolate chips

pb chips

mini marshmallows


chocolate syrup, maple syrup, regular syrup


graham crackers

marshmallow fluff

pb (and lots of it!)

vanilla soy milk

raisins and brown sugar

muffin crumbles



cottage cheese


chocolate bar pieces

These are the items I have experimented with lately.  I like to keep my oatmeal under 3 points.  Right now I have been eating a lot of semi-sweet chocolate chips and a teaspoon of pb in my oatmeal.

What are your favorite things to add?

    What kind of oats do you use? Steel cut, instant, quick, or old fashion?

    nothing out of a package. Quick, old fashioned and steel cut. Mainly old fashioned.

    In the summer time…I put .25c of Old Fashion in my smootheis for b’fast.

    But I use instant allot of low pt snacks at work Just add hot water and eat.

    Steel cut is great in yogurt!

    i LOVE the sm’oats, my new favorite! i eat them with peanut butter (PB2, the powdered stuff) or craisens, splenda and milk
